The State Eligibility Test (SET) for Botany is a state-level competitive examination organized by the LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, under the direction of the Government of Kerala. It is a prerequisite qualification for candidates aspiring to become Higher Secondary School Teachers or Non-Vocational Teachers in VHSE in the subject of specialization.
Exam Mode: Offline (Pen-and-Paper Based Test)
Duration: 120 minutes for each paper
Number of Papers: Two
Paper I: General Knowledge (Part A) and Aptitude in Teaching(Part B)
Paper II: Subject-specific (Botany/Zoology)
Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Marking Scheme:
Paper I and II (except for Mathematics and Statistics):
+1 mark for each correct answer
No negative marking
Mathematics and Statistics: Each correct response carries 1.5 marks
Educational Qualification:
A Master’s degree in Botany, Life Sciences, or related disciplines with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories).
Candidates with a B.Ed degree in Life Sciences/Botany/Zoology from NCERT-affiliated institutions are also eligible.
Additional Qualifications:
A B.Ed degree is mandatory for most subjects except for Commerce, Social Work, and some language-specific fields.
Age Limit: No age restriction.
